Forget what you know (or don’t know) about the making of fine jewelry and come with us on a journey you will never forget and never regret. The process of creating your own Custom, Not Customary fine jewelry at David Alan is like no other.
Partner with master jeweler, diamantaire and designer, to collaborate and create your forever jewelry. The David Alan experience is educational; the design process is exhilarating and the end result, the fine jewelry masterpiece, is exceptional.
Step 1: To start, all David Alan projects begin with a complimentary 15-minute phone call to discuss your occasion, diamond & design, timeline, and budget.
Step 2: Next, meet with David Alan in his NYC Atelier. (Virtual meetings are also possible!) Walking into the atelier, you are greeted with a selection of curated diamonds and gems. Don’t forget to peep the open-air workshop, David’s art collection as well as samples of some favorite styles, a glism and reminder of what is possible.
During the meeting, he will provide an extensive education about diamonds and fine jewelry. Don’t be surprised if he asks you questions about you, your love and tells a funny, or tear jerking story too. The full scope of your project details, design, diamonds, and due date are established during this meeting.
Step 3: Once the design has been finalized, a comprehensive proposal is presented to you outlining the entire project down to the exact dollar. On occasion, a design fee is requested for 3-D renderings. To start the process, a written approval and a 50% deposit is required before creation starts.
Step 4: Your Custom, Not Customary jewelry making commences! The jewelry is then masterfully crafted by our expert master jewelers, diamond & gesmtone setters and artisans. Like an expert orchestra, each step of the production process is perfectly executed in our NYC Atelier. Every single piece that leaves the atelier is not only designed by David but checked for quality before the presentation to you.
Step 5: The final stage includes a tidying of details including: a request for your personal engraving, final payment, and pick up/shipment scheduling. When possible, David prefers that your completed heirloom is picked up in person, so that the David Alan team can properly present it to you. One of the largest rewards for a job well done is witnessing your reaction to your new Cusom, Not Customary David Alan jewelry
